ABOUT

This website provides insights into UK’s energy data, highlighting the real-time dynamics of renewable sources and demand. We focus on measured data for electricity demand and wind generation, sourced directly from reliable providers, to showcase their variability. In contrast, our solar data is derived from Sheffield University’s models, which estimate output based on weather patterns and installed capacity rather than direct measurements.
Thanks to GridWatch.co.uk, we can access raw data in CSV format, sampled at a meaningful 5-minute interval. This granularity reveals the true intermittent nature of renewables, unlike many sources that average data over days or weeks, which can obscure rapid fluctuations and their impact on the grid. Our goal is to promote a clearer understanding of energy intermittency for better-informed discussions on sustainability.
